The most positive aspect of creating this project was learning all about the 1920’s. The culture of that time period was so rich with cultural expression, and using this project as a key to unlock tons of new information was wonderful. I believe that our vodcast could use some improvement, such as using more pictures to make a smoother and more in-depth production. Also, if allowed the time, some technological adjustments could be made, such as sound effects and such.
I believe our group worked very well together. We used our time productively in class, and did our own work outside of school to make the best project we could. Though, our group could have been a tad more direct, instead of spending thirty minutes just picking our radio call letters, and another fifteen deciding what city we were to be located in, and another fifteen, deciding the order of the parts. Yes, we could have improved on our indecision. I believe all the members of our group put in their effort to make the most of our technological abilities.
This experience, by using research, made the 1920’s come alive. By making it into a vodcast, the richness of the culture back then was multiplied, added, exponetened, times ten. Especially interesting was the slang. Learning the slang was the “cat’s pajamas” and made almost a century ago, seem like it was taking place, right now.
While watching the projects of other groups, I learned a lot about the elements of the 1920’s our group did not study. It also showed me new techniques that could be used in Adobe Premiere Elements. It was a learning experience, such as the flappers, and several musicians and historical figures at the time, such as the infamous Charles Lindburg. - Lauren While creating our vodcast, the positives were that my group members accomplished their tasks and everything came out smoothly. My group can improve our vodcast by adding better transitions and next time getting everything done faster. Working together to get the job done was no problem for my group. We could have improved our reactions by calming down when things didn’t work and figuring it out together, rather than getting really aggravated and shouting out random ideas that didn’t work. Everyone contributed a fair share of throughout this project. I was the engineer and did my commercial while putting everything together. Lauren put together the other commercial with her transitions, Maurice put together the sports section and transitions of his pictures and projects, Shireen did the introduction and ending along with her part and transitions, Pratyush did his part and transitions. This experiment helped me understand the 1920’s better from my research and my group partners research as we all learned new stuff or enhanced what we already knew. While producing the vodcast I really took time to understand the old pictures and what everyone was saying, which enhanced my learning. Watching my neighbor’s vodcast also helped me. Other groups put together some pretty cool vodcasts in which I learned a lot from. Also, my group members projects helped me to learn some stuff. - Hunter There were many positive things that occurred when we created our vodcast. First of all, we work together as a team. We talked about what we were planning to do and responded to puzzling questions. Also, we helped one another whenever we had a problem. Our group could improve our broadcast numerous ways. We could have been more productive when given class time to work, because we wasted too much time discussing irrelevant topics that didn’t involve the 1920’s. If we used that time wisely, we could have given Hunter, the engineer, the project sooner that way he could organize with more time to edit. Which would have made us stop worrying about whether or not Hunter could do it in time. -Maurice Creating the vodcast taught me more about depending on people and using teamwork. I additionally learned a lot more about Adobe. Our group could improve our vodcast by changing the sounds to make the voices louder and/or make the music louder. However, overall I think our vodcast was very good. My group worked well together and got their work done on time. One way we could improve is to be nicer and more forgiving to each other, because sometimes we would tend to get angry easily.
At first, I didn’t even know who Sacco and Vanzetti were, but after I did more research, I learned how discriminating people were towards them and felt really bad for them.
I had never recorded my voice before, and it was really fun. Putting the whole vodcast together and finding cool pictures to go with it was really neat and cool. -Shireen
